Body mass index (BMI)

BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat and health risks.

BMI = weight (in kilograms)
divided by height (in metres2)

  • BMI of 19 – 24 = healthy weight range
  • BMI of 25 – 29 = overweight
  • BMI of 30+ = obese.

Talking to your doctor openly and honestly about your weight is one of the best things you can do for your health. The more your weight increases, the more medical problems, including acne, you may have to tackle.
